George Mc Guire

George Mc Guire

Wealth Management Advisor
Office 847-573-6801

George McGuire joined Northwestern Mutual as a college intern while attending business school at Illinois State University in 1985. He completed his senior year with a Bachelor's in Marketing and, simultaneously, was the runner-up of all Northwestern Mutual interns nationwide. George converted to full-time status in 1986 and has been a member of the Million Dollar Round Table ever since. During this time, he built a very successful risk management practice. And, as his clients’ financial needs expanded, George expanded his practice by becoming a Wealth Management Advisor and building a team with the knowledge and competence to meet those needs. In additional, he continues to serve in many roles within Northwestern Mutual, both at the home office committee level and in field management. George has expertise in:

  • Retirement income planning
  • Retirement planning
  • Trust services
  • Business continuation planning
  • Wealth management
  • Financial planning
  • Feel-based financial planning
  • Disability income planning
  • Long-term care planning
  • Investment strategies
  • Life insurance planning
  • Education funding

George grew up in Arlington Heights, IL. In his earlier days, he worked in the family’s vacuum-forming plastics company. Watching his father build a small business during the 1970’s recession, and the pain of 21% lending interest rates, provided an education and perspective that stuck with him throughout the years as a business owner and executive.

George married his high school sweetheart, Paula, in 1988. They have four children, from a teenager to late 20s, and he cherishes the fact that there never seems to be a dull day at the McGuire house. George enjoys being involved in the golf community, as well as “things that burn gasoline, like older muscle cars and motorcycles.”

I was interested in the business after watching my dad for many years. It was a pretty, natural thing. From coming into the office as a young kid when I was 3, 4, 5 and watching my dad work on the weekends, to going to events with him and coworkers, I grew up loving the business and the environment. From there, the conversations started getting more serious about what he really did and the impact he and his team were able to have in many families' lives. As I got older, he would share stories about things that happen in our industry, both the good and the bad. I wanted to be on the team that does things the right way, sitting on the same side of the table as the client and truly looking out for their best interest. I enjoy creating relationships and the feeling of knowing we’re helping setup great financial futures.

Ryan is an avid golfer and served as golf team captain at Carthage College.
